Summer is almost here.  Bakasyon na si anakis.  I just picked her up sa Philadelphia yesterday.  I can’t believe she’ll be senior next year.  Syet, tumatanda na talaga ako.

Habang papauwi na kami she was telling me stories about her school and friends.  It must been the driving or something, pero minsan meron siyang mga sinasabi na hindi ko marinig.  At syempre, my reaction is “huh?”, “what?”.  At eto namang si anakis uulitin nga yung sinabi pero may karag-dagan pang “LOLA” sa huli.  Syet, para na nga ba akong si Inang?

I had to say something… “Anak, I think I’m normal. In my generation hearing loss starts at 40’s.  And according to studies, your generation will start to experience hearing loss in your 30’s.  Thats because of the invention of I-pods. That’s why be careful with those I-pods.” At syempre palibhasa unica hija si anakis at wala mapasahan ng sermon, ang sagot nya eh dapat daw pagsabihan ko yung mga pinsan nya.  Nandamay pa ng pinsan.

She keeps telling me that she could’nt wait to turn 21 and I kept telling her not to rush it. She can’t wait to go to the bars, the casinos, etcetera.

Bigla akong nag-isip and I told her, “Anak, I think we’re on the stage that we both think exactly the same.  We are on the stalemate part of our lives.”  Si anak naman ang napa-“what?”.   Yes, I wish I’m 21 and you wish you’re 21 too. Natawa na lang si anakis.

Syet, saang kamay na naman kaya ng Maykapal ako kukuha ng pang tuition?

Welcome Home, Anakis!

And for viewers like you, isang maikling palabas from my anakis.
